Am I able to sit with my family on Basic Economy?

Not confirmed. Family members might be seated apart because Basic Economy does not permit advance seat selection. Booking a higher fare or paying for seat selection after booking (if possible) is highly advised if you are travelling with children.

Does Air Canada have Economy class with added benefits?

Economy Class with added benefits offers flexible fare differences as one of the upgrades. Preferred Seats are a selection of Economy seats with added benefits in this regard.

They can be purchased for a fee of CAD 19 or more per passenger, per segment of a one-way flight. The fee changes depending on the flight and the chosen seat.

Air Canada will only confirm upgrades after you pay the charges.

Onboard Services: Sit in wider-than-normal economy seats.

  • 38-inch seat pitch. Which means seven more inches of legroom.

  • Available on select Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Airbus A330.

Does Air Canada assign seats based on fare types?

Indeed. Air Canada does allow seat selection based on fare types.

But in some cases, it does allow upgrades.

Booking Phase: Selecting Aeroplan card booking via the Air Canada website or any travel agent allows Aeroplan card holder to choose a seat during the reservation process.
